Authenticity, Get Good At It!

"This is who we are. Accept it. Or better yet, enjoy it." - HUMAN TORCH

CS Challenge:

Superheroes, when was the last time you did something that was truly authentic to yourself?  I often catch myself acting or presenting myself in a certain way because it is what I think is expected of me.  In moments like these, I try to acknowledge the ridiculousness of it all, smile to myself, and then do something that really makes my heart sing.  It might be something silly like sticking out my tongue and making a sound or something more intentional like greeting the very next person I see on the sidewalk.  Either way, if you ever find yourself being anything other than who you are, practice recognizing it and break the cycle by striving for something a little more authentic.  The power of being authentic to one's self is a power much stronger than being anything else.  Be who you are...and GET GOOD AT IT!

In the words of another citizen superhero, Abraham Lincoln, “Whatever you are, be a good one.”

Superhero Wisdom: The Impossible

"Everything's impossible until somebody does it." - BATMAN

CS CHALLENGE:
Superheroes, often we wait- we wait for something to happen or for someone to do something first.  We convince ourselves that we need a sign, some precedented reason before we act, pursue or become.  The truth is, each of us is unprecedented, unique, original.  Nothing has been ever done quite the way that you do it.  That is precisely why you should not wait do what you've only dreamed of doing and to become what you see as your greatest self.  The impossible is only possible when we don't try.  It's high time to change the "impossible" to "I'm Possible!"

Go for it, we're all cheering you on as we do the same thing...

Superhero Wisdom: With these gifts you posess...

"I have possessed these gifts for many years, but for the most part have refrained from using them. No More. Today I set a challenge for myself, a challenge to be of service to humanity. I will do this by being a living example of what's possible. I intend to hold myself to a very high standard. I ask no less of you. I challenge you to challenge yourselves. You are all gifted with special abilities. Strive to live up to your potential, as I will strive to live up to mine." - ICON

CS Challenge:
1) Read those words again...
2) Say those words aloud as if they were your own.
3) Now they are your own.

Be the change.  Represent what is possible.  Love openly.  Practice kindness.  Be iconic.

Rock on ICON!

CS CHALLENGE:
Your destiny is your own... and yours alone, superheroes.  No one can completely make your decisions for you or be the you that you've always aspired to be.  If you can decide, truly decide that you are great and good and powerful and true, then nothing and no one can tell you otherwise.  Dare to take control of your path, or if not control, than embrace it completely and with passion and deliberation hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

Weeeee!

Relish and take full advantage of each and every opportunity to share who you are with the world, superheroes.  Do not shrink from that which challenges your character or threatens your ideas.  Your existence, your powers, the role you play in the scheme of things is crucial and special.  At the moment of introduction, rise up, unfurl your magnificent cape, set your intention and simply let the world around see your greatness, envision your contribution, and be in the presence of a true superhero.

I can feel your fire!

CS CHALLENGE:
Don't sweat the small stuff, superheroes!  Your purpose for existence is far too special and important.  Act with intention, love with purpose and be kind, but by all means, learn from each and every misstep, oversight and slip-up.  Often it's the tougher lesson which provides the greater wisdom.

CS ALERT: The Charles Schulz Philosophy

This is the personal philosophy of the late Charles Schulz, creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip and fellow citizen superhero.  It is a true testament to his amazing superpower for making others see joy in the world and greatness in themselves.  You don't have to answer the questions. Just ponder on them...

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world
2. Name the last five World Cup winners
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss UK pageant
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel Prize
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress
6. Name the last decade's worth of Wimbledon winners

How did you do?

The point is none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields.
…and…
Applause dies
Awards tarnish
Achievements are forgotten
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the
most credentials, the most money...or the most awards. They simply are the ones who
care the most!

Superhero Wisdom of the Week

"To successfully make a shot, you gotta follow and master basic steps. Your stance is the foundation. Where you draw your strength. Nock the arrow and grip. Realize you are wielding a weapon. Mindset. Focus solely on your goal, regardless of your surroundings. Be in the now. Set up and draw. Inhale and prepare for what you are about to do. Anchor and hold. There is no going back. Aim. All that remains is you and your target. Release and follow through. Master those and you hit every time. One last step. Feedback. Basically...take responsibility for the outcome. For every shot." - HAWKEYE
